Why Jack Victor

Jack Victor has been making men's tailored clothing in Montreal since 1913. It's still a family-owned business: Alan Victor, the third generation, runs the company as CEO today, following his father Herschel and his grandfather (and company founder) Jack Victor before him. In the company's 100th year, it published its own history, Jack Victor: Our Story and the World of Men's Tailoring.

What makes the brand stand out is the combination of in-house manufacturing with a modern approach to menswear. Suits are cut and sewn in Jack Victor's own Montreal factory using premium Italian fabrics, rather than outsourced to a third party. That's paired with a stated focus on accessible luxury: elevated tailoring built for a modern man's day-to-day life, not just formal occasions, without bespoke-level pricing.

Types of Suits, Styles, and Fit

A Jack Victor made-to-measure suit at Channers starts from two base fits. Tailored Fit is sleeker and closer to the body, with modern proportions. Regular Fit is more traditional, with a bit more room to move. Your Channers tailor will help you pick whichever base suits your build and how you plan to wear the suit, then adjust it to your exact measurements from there.

Silhouette
Single-breasted for a classic, versatile cut, or double-breasted for a more formal, structured look.

Lapels
Notch lapels give a traditional, everyday look, while peak lapels add a sharper, more formal edge.

Pieces
A classic two-piece jacket-and-trouser suit, or step it up with a three-piece that includes a matching vest.

Separates
Jack Victor also builds suit separates, so jacket and trouser sizing don't have to match a single fixed combination, ideal if your proportions don't fit a standard size run.

Fabric
Premium Italian wools and blends, sourced through Jack Victor's own Montreal manufacturing, in weights suited to business, weddings, or special occasions.

Whether it's a boardroom suit or something for a wedding, this range gives you a starting point a stock suit can't match.

Customer reviews
Channers is a premium spot to get your suits. For me, the service was not only top of the line but they have produced a top of line, quality product that truly has many other competitors not even close to matching in the region. For London, Channers is the place to get the best clothing with the top of line service that you look for in a retailer. Great spot for great quality.

Custom Suit FAQs

  • Yes. Jack Victor has been manufacturing men's tailored clothing in Montreal since 1913, and remains family-owned into its third generation. Suits are cut and sewn in-house rather than outsourced, using premium Italian fabrics.

  • Tailored Fit is sleeker and closer to the body, with modern proportions. Regular Fit is a more traditional cut with a bit more room to move. Your Channers tailor helps you pick the right base fit, then adjusts it to your exact measurements.

  • Suit separates let the jacket and trouser come from different sizes rather than one fixed combination, which helps if your proportions don't fit a standard size run.

  • Most made-to-measure suits, Jack Victor included, are ready in 3–4 weeks depending on fabric and finishing details. For a wedding, we recommend starting 6–8 weeks out to leave time for alterations and any wedding party coordination.

  • Jack Victor sources premium Italian wools and blends for its suits, in a range of weights suited to year-round wear, from lighter cloths for spring and summer to heavier weaves for fall and winter.

  • Yes. Alongside the standard two-piece jacket-and-trouser suit, Jack Victor made-to-measure includes the option to add a matching vest for a three-piece look, which reads more formal and works well for weddings.
